South Korea is accelerating its national cybersecurity capabilities with a new round of government-backed funding aimed at strengthening defenses against rapidly evolving digital threats, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced on Friday.
The agency said it will distribute 12 billion won (approximately $8.3 million) to 50 selected companies under its 2026 New Information Security Technology Support Program, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT. The initiative is designed to fast-track innovation across four priority areas: AI-based security commercialization, development of AI-native cybersecurity firms, Korean-model integrated security systems, and zero-trust security adoption.
