Anthropic has begun distributing its Claude AI assistant through Microsoft’s enterprise ecosystem, marking a strategic shift from standalone chatbot usage toward deep integration inside everyday productivity software used by large organisations. The rollout, which includes add-ins for Word and Excel as well as a Microsoft 365 connector, positions Claude directly within core workplace tools such as Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and Calendar, effectively embedding the model into the flow of daily business operations rather than leaving it as a separate chat interface.
The integrations are being made available via the Microsoft Marketplace, where enterprises can deploy “Claude by Anthropic” for Word and Excel. These add-ins are designed to allow users to draft, review, edit, and analyse documents and spreadsheets without leaving Office applications. Alongside this, the Microsoft 365 connector extends Claude’s access to organisational data sources, enabling it to interpret and reason over content stored in email threads, shared drives, and collaboration platforms. This shifts the model’s role from isolated assistant to context-aware system operating across enterprise knowledge environments.
