The European Union has introduced new restrictions that will limit the participation of Chinese companies in large public contracts for medical devices. Under the new rules, Chinese-origin medical devices must not account for more than 50% of the total value in any contract worth €5 million or more.
These measures will take effect ten days after the publication of the Commission Regulation on June 30, 2025, and will remain in force for five years, with the possibility of a five-year extension.
